Singer Featherweight 221, AG0119**, Blackside - RARE

Our Machine Shipping Staff are currently at Quilt Festival; this machine will not ship until the week of October 13th - 17th.

This Rare, Singer Featherweight 221 is in good condition and ready to sew right out of the case.  It is fitted with an original 110-volt motor that has been rewound to work with optimum speed and torque.  Be sure to click on any image above to view the beauty of this machine and its rare black-oxide parts!  It is in nice condition with some decal wear and receives a grade 7-.  AG0119** indicates an original commission date of July 1st, 1941.

What makes this Featherweight rare?

This Featherweight 221 sewing machine has been given the term "Blackside Featherweight" because of some unique finishing to the standard parts, particularly the faceplate.    Click here to read more about it on our blog.

During WWII, there was a moratorium on chromium; consequently, some of the Featherweight parts like the handhweel and stitch length indicator received black paint instead of the chrome finish and other parts like the faceplate received a black-oxide finish.  A machine with these components is referred to as a Blackside Featherweight.

The Original Bobbin Case is included, adhering to originality all these years later.  The machine has been serviced and calibrated for quilter’s cotton, so tension is already properly set; however, tension can easily be adjusted depending on fabric needs.

The machine is fitted with an original scrolled faceplate and the original case includes the top tray for holding the attachments.
